Day 2

LibreOffice Community & ODF Current Status in South Korea

In South Korea, the official document standards adopted by the government are ODF and OWPML. However, in practice, the widely used document format in the academic & public sector is the proprietary HWP format developed by Hancom(한글과 컴퓨터)
In this talk, I will introduce the structure and background of the HWP file format, and also present HWPX an XML-based open specification aligned with OWPML.

Simple LibreOffice Automation using Python ScriptForge

As a Product Manager, I often receive important data through notifications in some platform like feedback, status updates, bug reports, and requests that need to be consolidated into reports. Manually copying and updating thins information in spreadsheets can be both repetitive and risk of inaccuracy data. LibreOffice Calc combined with Python ScriptForge will be the way to automate this workflow seamlessly.

Non-programmer contributions to LibreOffice

In my QA activities for LibreOffice, I focus on three essential practices: bug reporting, bug triaging, and bibisect. When I encounter unexpected behavior, I create detailed bug reports so that issues become visible to developers and contributors. Clear and accurate reports are the first step toward resolving problems effectively. For bug triaging, I verify whether a reported issue can be reproduced, gather missing information, and check if it is already documented. I also help assign the right importance so developers know which problems should be addressed first.

LibreOffice in India - community, status, challenges

This talk is about the LibreOffice Indian community. India is a huge country and the spread of the free software movement is uneven, and so is the adoption and awareness of LibreOffice. For instance, in the southern Indian state of Kerala, LibreOffice is taught in all the government schools.

I will also share my story of going to conferences – from a local Software Freedom Day event to DebConf 2023 in India - and my experiences.
